Conflict Resolution

Social skills and resolving conflicts are essential at any age.  We work with children everyday guiding them through arguments and disagreements.

Here is an example from today:

Child A: “Mrs Linden, B took my tiger and gave it to C, and I was playing with it.”

Teacher: You need to tell them the problem. Look at them and tell them what’s wrong.

A:  I had the tiger, and you took it.

Child B: sits quietly

Child C: “I got it out of the bin, and I need it for my tiger family.”

Child A:  “But I don’t like to play with lions.”

Teacher: “What can you do?”

Child A: “I know! You hold the front, and I’ll hold the back!”

Child B:  “Show me.”

One child is holding the head, the other the tail.  (The tiger is only about 3 inches long.)

Child B: “Like this?”

A: Yes!

Child B: “I know, let’s play together!”

Child A:  Yes!
